Luxury Furniture and Trova’s Falling Man Sculptures Offered by Akiba Antiques

Published December 8th, 2020 by Devteam

Self-taught artist Ernest Trova endured a lifetime of both praise and criticism for his work, which was alternately described as only fit to “hang in an outhouse” and “among the best of contemporary American sculpture.” Despite the variance in public opinion regarding his art, Trova built a career for himself with his figurative Falling Man sculptures. Akiba Antiques’ upcoming sale will feature several pieces by Trova, including a 1970s splintered Falling Man that is accompanied by a book about the artist. Some of the other available Falling Man figures are shown walking, standing in place, or gazing at a miniature sculpture of its own.

This sale will also bring pieces of luxury furniture, including custom made Italian seating. A giltwood and red silk sofa is among the key items, along with a matching pair of armchairs in the style of Louis XVI. Jewelry and fine metal collectors may consider a one-kilogram gold bar from Leach & Garner or a matching necklace and earring set from Angela Cummings. Register to bid for any of these items on LiveAuctioneers.
